Pearl Jam is the only '90s Seattle grunge band that has survived to this day in more or less its original line-up. With lead vocal Eddie Vedder, lead guitarist Mike McCready, bassist Jeff Ament, rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard and drummer Matt Cameron, the band has not only survived almost three decades in the chaotic and ever-changing music industry, but they have done it in style by always creating flawless music with powerful lyrics and gaining more and more worldwide recognition as new fans gather with lifelong fans to attend their sold-out tours.

In the late '80s, while Vedder was playing with a San Diego based band called Bad Radio, back in Seattle, McCready, Ament and Gossard were looking for a lead vocal. Thorough the help of Jack Irons (former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummers), Vedder sends his audition tape to the three musicians and leaves his gas station job to go to Seattle. Drummer Dave Krusen joins and the band Mookie Blaylock is born. On October 22, 1990, the band play their first gig and shortly after are signed by Epic Records. They change their name to Pearl Jam just in time to welcome and be one of the leaders of the grunge explosion that was right around the corner.

Pearl Jam's debut album, Ten, is recorded in March, 1991, bringing the public no less than three remarkable hit singles: "Jeremy", "Alive" and "Even Flow". The band goes on a serious touring schedule and rise more and more as the number of fans reaches incredibly large proportions.

As the years go by and Pearl Jam continues to release critically acclaimed albums while filling every concert space they perform in, an entire Pearl Jam culture is formed. AllMusic names Pearl Jam "the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s". Due to their unique style and Vedder's unmistakable personal approach, the band's fan base grows out way beyond the margins of general grunge fans, thus making no surprise of their longtime success.

Pearl Jam continues to release new songs and albums, as well as constantly touring, their 2016 US and Canada tour already being sold-out on more than half of the scheduled concerts. If Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam made grunge to be the music revolution that it was, there is no doubt that Pearl Jam also made sure that that flame will never flicker.
