Rogers Centre History

Much like the Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre is a multi functional stadium located in downtown Toronto. It was built in 1989 and is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of the MLB. The Canadian football league team known as the Toronto Argonauts also play their home games at Rogers Centre. Having both teams in the same building requires a Rogers centre schedule that is constructed around the games of both teams. Any open dates are then filled by various performers or conventions.

Rogers Centre was previously named the SkyDome until it was purchased by Rogers Communications in 2005. This same company also purchased the Blue Jays and promptly renamed the SkyDome. Rogers Centre is an impressive building, because it is the first stadium with a motorized retractable roof. Therefore, the outdoor conditions will not impact sporting events in any capacity. Rogers Centre is also one of the first stadiums to accommodate both a football and a baseball field. A hotel is directly attached to the centre for convenience an almost one hundred hotel rooms have a view overlooking the field. This hotel is very popular among Blue Jays fans, because they get an up lose look at the team.

This state-of-the-art centre sells out most Toronto Blue Jays tickets and has been the chosen venue for many important sporting events with no ties to Toronto. This is common because Rogers Centre is such a great stadium with features that make I perfect for important sporting events like Preseason NFL games and the World Baseball Classic. Many other sports will often try to get Rogers Centre to house their sporting events. However, Rogers Centre must schedule around the Blue Jays and Argonauts first. Not to mention that there are countless events and concerts at Rogers Centre weekly. Therefore, gaining access to this prestigious centre can be difficult for sporting events without tie to Toronto.

Not only are Rogers Centre tickets available for sporting events, but Rogers Centre tickets are also available for musical performances. There are many different concert configurations available within this centre, making it the perfect concert venue for both large and small shows. Madonna took her blonde ambition tour to Rogers Centre in 1991 and Bruce Springsteen recently toured there in 2009. Therefore, Rogers Centre tickets are highly sought after and it is one of the most notorious stadiums in the world, because of the revolutionary features that it possesses.
