Rogers Arena is the primary sports arena in downtown Vancouver. Originally known as the General Motors Place from its inception in 1995 to 2010 and then Canada Hockey Place temporarily during the 2010 Winter Olympics, the place is now officially known as Rogers Arena.
Located at 800 Griffiths Way at Vancouver in British Columbia, Rogers Arena was conceived and developed to be a replacement of the Pacific Coliseum which was considered to be ageing and beyond refurbishment for practical reasons. Rogers Arena opened on 21st September, 1995 and is owned and operated by Canucks Sports & Entertainment.
Rogers Arena has been home to Vancouver Canucks of National Hockey League since 1995 to date, Vancouver Grizzlies of National Basketball Association from 1995 to 2001 when the team moved to Memphis in Tennessee, Vancouver Ravens of the National Lacrosse League from 2001 to 2004 and Vancouver Voodoo of the Roller Hockey International in 1996. Rogers Arena tickets at one point in time were all about Vancouver Canucks tickets and today apart from the scurry for Vancouver Canucks tickets, the venue also turns into a hotspot during the scurry for all major Vancouver concert tickets.
Rogers Arena has hosted the 1998 NHL All-Star Game, 1998 NBA Draft, 2006 NHL Entry Draft and 2010 Winter Olympics for ice hockey venue. Rogers Arena tickets are hard to get, especially during popular concerts and major sports events. Rogers Arena has been host to more than 17 million guests in the last 18 years and has proudly serviced some of the most renowned personalities in the world like US President Bill Clinton, HRH Queen Elizabeth II and the His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
